This is suitable for a short break for those who love the peace and quiet of the countryside. Walking shoes and coats are a must. The venue is set in a green valley a mile or so form a small village called Witheridge. This in turn is 10 miles away from the nearest town of Tiverton. It is accessed by a car down a single track green lane. This charming farm setting is only suitable for those guests who are capable of walking over rough grounds.
Some of the cottages do have ground floor twin bedrooms with en-suite toilet and shower for those guests who find climbing stairs quite difficult. Each cottage has self catering facilities and food can be delivered by Tesco’s or Morrison’s. On Friday & Saturday evenings a fish and chip van and pizza van parks in Witheridge so guests can drive out and pick supper up. In Witheridge there is also a nice old pub / restaurant that serves good homemade food and it is not that expensive.
For those guests that are a little more adventurous, there are trips available if transport has been purchased. The nearest is 12 miles from the farm, Knightsheys Court and gardens. A beautiful national trust property set in its own parkland. There is an amazing house to experience, a fantastic walled vegetable / fruit garden and a lovely café set in the old stables and yard.
Another pleasant outing is Exeter Cathedral, 20 miles away, across Devonshire countryside, and for those in need of retail therapy the town centre is full of a variety of shops and stores.
For those guests who like to travel there is a full days outing on a steam train and boat ride, other trips can include the zoo or seaside, however accessibility can not be guaranteed as we found in our explorations of this beautiful green country.
A very pleasant trip had by all.
