Reykjavik – Iceland. October 2016
What a brilliant place this is to visit…… Our group stayed at the Tomsen Apartments which is located in the City Centre. We were on the second floor.
The apartments are cosy comprising 2 twin bedrooms and sofa bed in the lounge area. The kitchenette was stocked for 4 persons, even though the owner was aware of our group being 5 persons. The apartment was clean and modern.
It was in a good location only minutes from the shops, cafés, and restaurants. The modern cathedral called the Hallgrimskirkja is very impressive and there are fantastic views of the capital from the tower.
Our tours were very good; however we were usually kept waiting for our mini bus to pick us up from the meeting point, and could be as much as 30 minutes late. (Gray Line) It also resulted in us getting cold and wet. Oh yes we had our fair share of rain, but we had not come to Iceland to enjoy a sunshine holiday, and we were all prepared for the weather. It wasn’t actually that cold, even the locals said how mild it was for October.
Our tours included: The blue lagoon which is fantastic swimming in the beautiful thermal pools.
Reykjavik sightseeing tour, the golden circle, Northern lights (did not appear on this trip)
We enjoyed a free day where we visited local shops and found the trolls. We also enjoyed the local food which was very good.
We had a truly wonderful time and would like to visit again sometime. The people were very friendly and helpful.
A fantastic experience had by us all!!!!!
