What can we say about this beautiful City that has not been said before? It is stunning with an amazing Old Town and to quote George Bernard Shaw “those who seek paradise on Earth should visit Dubrovnik”
Our hotel was ideally situated about 12 miles from Dubrovnik airport. It is a three star property which we found to be well maintained throughout. Our rooms were a good size with a sea view and overlooked the small pebbled beach. The staff are a very helpful and friendly and most spoke several languages including English. The food was very good with lots of choices each morning and evening, served as a buffet. There is a charge for drinks with your evening meal which is not including in a half board tariff and soft drinks usually around 36 Kuna for 2 bottles of sparkling water or similar. There are no lifts in this hotel and plenty of stairs to negotiate but apart from this it is a delightful location.
There are some beautiful walks around the bay near our hotel, where the terrain is flat and easy accessible. There are shops/ cafes and of course Ice cream outlets.
We visited the Old Town which is a world heritage site; we also had a Game of Thrones fan with us so this made his day special. We travelled by taxi up to the fort and took the cable car back down again, breath-taking views all around us. Cable car cost 85 Kuna per person one way.
Our trip to the Elafiti Islands by small boat cost 200 Kuna each, which also included in the price a 6 course meal at the home of the Captain and his family and pick up and drop off at our hotel.
Kayaking and other water sports are available a short walk from our hotel and costs around 100 Kuna for an hour.
A wonderful place to visit
